week 4#

Hello, my fellow group members. I've been learning a lot about writing and how to teach our students the proper structure and easier way to write. This week, we look at the fundamentals of writing instruction and the different types of writing methods. With the essentials of teaching writing, here is where we teach children different methods to write by allotting time for writing and incorporating writing skills into the timetable. Children must also receive feedback from us teachers on their writing, which may be done by myself or by other students.

One of the following crucial points is the think-aloud, where the instructor will demonstrate and then model for the students. It was thrilling to go through the different writing techniques, I had no idea there were so many distinct writing strategies. Having the class demonstrate and deliver their work was an excellent approach for us to have a complete understanding of the concepts. I covered revising and editing, which is a key step of the writing process since it allows students to reflect on what they've written. However, using these strategies is critical for our students and will help them become better writers in class. One suggestion I have is that we need more videos in the classes to make it more visible. I must say that Miss Quinn did an outstanding job of providing us with relevant knowledge and modeling while also ensuring that we all stayed on track.👏This is an example of a strategy that exemplified self-regulation and metacognitive reflection.

CHELSEY The Writing Process week three

 

Hey ladies, at this week's session, what sprang to mind first as Ms. Quinn discussed the writing process? Have you ever imagined how easy writing may be? The eight writing steps are the focus for this week's blog. This class had some incredibly creative and simple methods that allowed teachers to guide their students in producing exceptional writing. I firmly believe that adhering to the steps of the ideal writing process will help us teachers organize essays and any piece of writing and guide our students to become betters writers in the classroom. I had a fantastic time in class this week as I learned a significant amount of new information to help me become a better language teacher and to help my students when I return to the classroom to become better writers. Below is just a video to remind you and also share with other colleagues about the writing process. 

Week 3#

 The Writing Process

My fellow group members, well another week is down and it was indeed a productive week. We went through the 8 steps of the writing process and I must say that once you follow the step, it is a great way to write. It is easier to accumulate ideas and information to have a spectacular and readable piece. Using the writing process in the classroom will get students to work productively and be good writers. I've  Learned that there are actually 5 types of exposition, which are problem and solution, compare and contrast, description of cause and effects, and sequence each of which has a graphic organizer for visual understanding. How interesting is that? Also, Miss Quinn has done an excellent job by giving us such valid information and modeling it to us to make sure each person is on track.👏🏼  my suggestion for future classes is for Miss Quinn to create an interactive environment. 

Week 2 #

This week's session was engaging; learning anything new is always a pleasure for me. The various scaffolding approaches that may be used in the classroom were the highlights. Miss Quinn showed us an interesting video on useful scaffolding techniques that can be used to help students be better writers and even readers and provide a specific type of support to students as they learn and develop a new concept or skill. It also helps the teacher to better understand each child's learning ability. Wasn't the video also educational for you? It was important to me since it also benefits me as a student teacher. my suggestion for the next class is to involve more activities for a better understanding. 

  

Weekly Blog #2 :Scaffolding Technique

  Hey Chelsey and Talia, Am I the only one who learned a lot from all the groups that presented? I guarentee this was the best way to learn scaffolding (focus lesson, pair write, peer editing group,writer's intent,writer's needs,teach the writer,writer's plan,writing status and group share). Being  more of an visual/audio learner having the class demonstrate each one through a role play was a genius Idea💕💕💕 thanks to that I have a idea of all of them in my head. I love Ms. Quinn for going the extra mile to ensure our understanding of these techniques by having us define them along with examples and use. what was really interesting though was that video on Scaffolding Techniques: Oral writing Partial Piece, Frame writing and Gradual release of responsibility. I must say I learnt alot.

Chelsey Benjamin Scaffolding Technique blog #2

 

Welcome to this week's A Little Piece of Charms blog. Have you ever needed some kind of scaffolding during your childhood or adult years? Do you ever find yourself  looking at your Language Art Curriculum and thought , "I don't have time for all of that!

I can recall last semester when I needed some scaffolding from my lecturer , and she gave me the tools and  guidance I needed to aid me by taking tiny steps toward completing a larger task.

But how precisely do teachers scaffold without spoon-feeding students is the question on your mind.

This blog will educate you the various methods that teachers might employ to assist students  in their classrooms.

As a newbie to the subject, I was particularly drawn to this picture because it gave me insights into how each of these scaffolding tactics will assist my students in the writing process in addition to giving me strategies I could utilize in the classroom. The over class session was quite fruitful, and teachers received useful information. A demonstration of the various strategies would have been helpful to the new students as a further recommendation, merely to show how precisely you use it in the classroom.

Chinoir Ijeh /Blog #1

Guys am going to be honest...Language Arts was never my forte until Ms. Quinn became my lecturer. She knows how to make English interesting ,the lecturer highlighted the importance of having language arts with its components of reading, writing, spelling and comprehension as one entity. The next class introduced 6+1 Traits of Writing Voice Ideas Presentation Conventions Organization Word Choice Sentence Fluency where the class was divided into groups of 4-5 persons and each group given different scenarios that happen in the classroom and had to role play the bad version then after the correct way. The main focus was to have a clearer understanding of the importance of the writing process: Prewriting, Drafting, Revising, Proofreading, Publishing . They concluded that if a student do well they can sit in the Authors Chair and read to the class. I am really looking forward for what the rest of the semester has to offer.

Chelsey BLOG ENTRY ONE

Let me start by saying that, like with every LIT class I've attended, the best thing I took away from this one was the opportunity to experience a fun, lively, and engaging classroom where everything is explained at a level that I can grasp. This week's lesson focus centered on the idea that writing serves as a gateway to more in-depth levels of cognition. This week, there were numerous topics that piqued my curiosity. The concept of scaffolding and how a teacher can grasp technique through a series of writer’s workshops where they  learn variety of techniques that can be employed in the classroom to foster good writers.  The demonstrations of the various trends in the writing process was another aspect of this week's session that I particularly adored. This enables me to gather concepts for example,  graphic organizer  and various approaches for instructing the writing process in the classroom. I found the entire class session to be excellent. In order for the students  to fully understand the idea being taught, the lesson was extremely participatory and filled with demonstration activities. Last but not least, I think that for future sessions, educators/teachers who are instructing students teachers / leaners who have never taught language Arts instruction before especially in the area of writing trends and, more specifically, scaffolding writing, I believe the lecturer should have spent a little more time just explaining more and coaching us for the practical part of the assignment. While reading, I found the theory portion to be a little perplexing.

 The fundamental principles of learning Language Arts  writing, act as the entrance to a deeper level of understanding. Welcome to the CCharms  blog alittle piece of CCharms. As we embark our  journey to become trained  language Arts teacher you will  find as you browse through  weekly update about our personal thoughts, feeling, insights about what we learn during class session.

week 1

This week we had a fascinating class. I learned a lot, and I hope you did too. It was really participatory and intriguing; a few things stood out to me, but the Venn diagram that Miss Quinn exhibited and discussed stood out the most. Working together to create the Venn diagram was an intriguing lesson. my understanding of the Venn diagram is that it is a graphical tool for comparing and contrasting two or more things, concepts, and others. It is frequently used to categorize contrasts and similarities in language arts and math classrooms. One recommendation I have for future lessons is that the instructor displays a video before the lecture begins. It will be an excellent method to capture some of the learners' attention before beginning the lecture. However, a Venn diagram helps students grasp how two objects may be both different and similar at the same time.  Would you use this tool in the classroom? Just think about how delighted our students will be when we share this new technique for producing a comparison and contrast composition with them. It will be an enjoyable lesson as they learn.
